INTERVIEW: Josh Friedman Talks the Future of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles posted on 23 Apr 2008

Josh Friedman is one happy camper right about now. It was just recently announced that his hit new series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was picked up for another season. Friedman took time out from his schedule - more than we expected, actually - to do a conference call regarding this pick-up and I was one of the lucky callers in attendance. Here's what the creator and executive producer of the show had to say.

I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about what you went through, in terms of logistics, in order to get the show picked up for a second season?

Josh Friedman: Sure. I think what we did is pretty much what's standard on all shows. It's an opportunity for the studio and the network and the production team to sit down and talk about the show, look at what we did right, what we did wrong and keep doing the right things and stop doing the wrong things. We went in and made a presentation to Kevin Reilly and his team and we had a conversation about the direction we wanted to go. In this case, we actually, about six weeks ago, we were brought back on to start working on episodes. Even though we didn't have an official pick-up, we were being paid to start working and generate stuff so when the pick-up came, we would basically be on schedule for a fall debut. continue....

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Will Be Back for a Second Season posted on 20 Apr 2008

Great News for television geeks: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be getting an second season after all. According to TV Guide, Fox informed the cast and crew on Saturday night of the renewal.

Fox Answers Question Regarding 'Sarah Connor' Return posted on 18 Apr 2008

Fox will likely continue to keep fans waiting until the May upfronts before officially announcing the return of Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles (T:tSCC), but the odds just got even better.

It had previously been reported in the Ausiello report on tv guide, that T:tSCC was stocking up on directors for the start of the new season. In an even more recent hollywoodreporter.com interview Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment President, was directly asked,

"Among Fox's freshman shows, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Back To You" are expected to come back next fall. Any others viewers shouldn't count out?"

Reilly's response was that,
"They're really the lead candidates at this point. We've already started staffing on 'Sarah Connor.

' Although it was an unusual season, it will end up finishing by far and away the strongest new drama of the season. Other shows have not gotten the traction. Just because competition is softer doesn't mean audience has to watch a show."

Which is an interesting way of asking the question. While I'll note Reilly didn't really mention any other freshman show that might return, confirmation from Fox that they are staffing T:tSCC is future boot stamping music to this fan's ears.
